Overview
Inspections help Service Providers standardize and document condition checks across assets. You can create inspections in Builder, assign them to users, and then complete them on the web or mobile versions of the Case application.
Creating inspections in Builder first ensures each step of the inspection — including positions, zones, and possible outcomes — is consistent and easy to perform in the field.
Creating an Inspection (Builder)
You can create an inspection by adding inspection line items, locations, and outcomes to an operation in Builder.
Steps
Create an operation and variation for your location.
Follow the steps in [Create a New Operation in Builder].
When you reach the Variation Details page, click +NEW INSPECTION.If you’re converting an existing operation into an inspection:
Search for the operation.
Click the pencil icon under Actions.
On the Edit Operation page, scroll to Inspections and click NEW INSPECTION LINE ITEM.
On the New Inspection page:
Enter an Inspection Description (e.g., “Brake System”).
Set the Position (order in which it appears).
Positions increase in increments of 10 (10, 20, 30…) so you can easily reorder later.Optionally add a Zone name and VMRS Code.
Click SAVE & PROCEED.
On the Inspection Line Details page, click + add a location.
Enter a Location Description (e.g., “Service Brakes” or “Left-Front, Right-Front”).
Optionally add a VMRS Code.
If you’ve already created an Outcome Group, select it from the dropdown and click SAVE & PROCEED.
Otherwise, click SAVE & PROCEED and create individual outcomes as described below.
For each Outcome:
Enter a short description (e.g., “OK” or “Needs Repair”).
Review or edit the Position (order shown to users).
(Optional) Check Notable to allow users to add notes.
Check Performed only if the outcome indicates a passing result.
NOTE: Do not check Performed for failed outcomes
(Optional) To trigger additional operations, search and select the operation in the Operations field (must already exist in Builder).
Click SAVE.
Repeat these steps for all Outcomes within a Location, then for all Locations within the Inspection Line Item.
When all inspection line items, locations, and outcomes are configured, your inspection is ready to use.
Users at your service location can now add this inspection to an estimate and complete it in Case.
