Before You Begin
Before you can use the Cummins Guidanz integration, confirm the following:
- Your location has an active Cummins Guidanz subscription.
- Your Cummins Guidanz login credentials are available.
- The vehicle you are working on has a valid VIN registered with Cummins.
NOTE: Your Cummins Guidanz credentials are separate from your application login. You will be prompted to sign in to Cummins Guidanz the first time you access it. Your browser will save your credentials for future sessions, but you will need to sign in again if you close the browser.
If your location does not have an active subscription, contact your manager or admin. The integration is available as an add-on through the Marketplace.
Create a Cummins Guidanz Service Order
A Cummins Guidanz Service Order is a guided diagnostic process tied to a specific complaint on a Cummins engine. A separate Service Order is created for each Cummins-related operation on the case.
Add a Cummins operation to the case
To set up the case with a Cummins operation:
- Open the case for the vehicle you are servicing.
- Add the Cummins-related operation to the case.
-
Save the case before continuing.
NOTE: The Cummins Guidanz option only appears on operations that are Cummins-related. If you do not see the option, confirm that the correct operation has been added.
Create the Service Order
To create a Cummins Guidanz Service Order from an operation:
- From the case, open the operation you want to work on.
- On the Edit Operation page, find the Create Guidanz Service Order button in the Operation Info section.
- Select Create Guidanz Service Order. The button is only active when the operation is Cummins-related and a valid VIN exists for the vehicle in Cummins.
-
The application creates a Service Order in Cummins Guidanz and displays a link to it on the operation.
NOTE: If the button is not active, confirm that the operation is Cummins-related and that the vehicle VIN is registered with Cummins. Contact your manager if the issue persists.
Open the Service Order in Cummins Guidanz
To access the Service Order:
- Select the Service Order link that appears on the operation after it has been created.
- The Cummins Guidanz portal opens.
- If prompted, enter your Cummins Guidanz credentials to continue.
-
Complete the guided diagnostic process within Cummins Guidanz.
NOTE: The integration sends information from the application to Cummins Guidanz in one direction only. Updates made in Cummins Guidanz are not automatically reflected back in the application.
Access Parts Catalogs and VIN Decoder
In addition to Service Orders, the Cummins Guidanz integration provides access to the Cummins Parts Catalog and VIN Decoder directly from the case. These links are available on the case and do not require a Cummins operation to be present.
Select the relevant link on the case to open the corresponding resource in the Cummins Guidanz portal. You may be prompted to enter your Cummins Guidanz credentials if you are not already signed in.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is the Create Guidanz Service Order button grayed out?
The button is only active when two conditions are met: the operation must be Cummins-related, and the vehicle VIN must exist in the Cummins system. If either condition is not met, the button will be inactive. Check that the correct operation has been added and that the VIN is valid.
Is a separate Service Order created for each operation?
Yes. Each Cummins-related operation on a case generates its own Guidanz Service Order. This reflects how Cummins Guidanz works — a Service Order is a guided diagnostic process for a single specific complaint.
Do I need to sign in to Cummins Guidanz every time?
Your browser saves your Cummins Guidanz credentials, so you will not need to sign in every session. However, if you close the browser, you will be prompted to sign in again the next time you access the portal.
Will the changes I make in Cummins Guidanz automatically show up in the application?
No. The integration currently sends information from the application only to Cummins Guidanz. It does not sync information back in real time. You will need to manually record any relevant updates from Cummins Guidanz in the application.
What if the vehicle VIN is not recognized by Cummins?
If the VIN does not exist in the Cummins system, the Service Order cannot be created. Contact your Cummins representative to confirm the VIN is registered, then try again.
Can I use this integration on a mobile device?
The Cummins Guidanz mobile app is not currently part of this integration. Access to the Cummins Guidanz portal is available only through a web browser.
